Province announces new classroom addition for Dormick Park Elementary

June 30, 2026

Students at Dormick Park Elementary will benefit from new classroom space as part of a provincial investment to help meet growing enrolment and provide high-quality learning environments across British Columbia.

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced today that Dormick Park Elementary has been approved to receive a new prefabricated classroom addition as part of a $49.5 million investment supporting school expansion projects in Abbotsford, Langley, Kelowna, North Vancouver and Burns Lake.

The new addition will create permanent learning spaces designed to the same building standards as traditionally constructed schools while allowing classrooms to be delivered more quickly through innovative prefabricated construction methods. The project will help address enrolment growth and ensure students continue to learn in safe, modern and welcoming environments.

"We are grateful to the Province for this investment in our growing community," said Stan Petersen, Chair of the Abbotsford Board of Education. "As enrolment continues to increase across our district, additional classroom space at Dormick Park Elementary will help ensure students have access to high-quality learning environments that support their success today and into the future."

The project is part of the Province's ongoing commitment to creating additional student spaces in growing communities through innovative prefabricated construction. Since the program began in 2023, the Province has approved nearly $550 million for 44 projects that will create almost 9,000 new student spaces throughout British Columbia.

The Abbotsford School District is thankful for the Province's continued partnership in supporting public education. Investments like this help us respond to the evolving needs of our schools while ensuring students have the space they need to learn, connect and succeed.
