For 35 years, Joanne Congo has helped students learn, grow and succeed as an Education Assistant, including 30 years at Chief Dan George Middle School.

Throughout her career, Joanne has provided the individualized support that can make an important difference for students, whether through extra help with reading and math, one-on-one learning or simply being a consistent and encouraging presence in their school day.

We're pleased to welcome our new Abbotsford Board of Education! On November 3, 2026, seven trustees were officially sworn into office, marking the beginning of their four-year term.

During the meeting, Rhonda Pauls was selected to serve as Board Chair, alongside Arsh Kaler as Vice Chair.

Why does screen time matter?

Children and families are increasingly spending time on screens such as TVs, computers, tablets, smartphones and gaming devices. Too much screen time can take away from activities that are essential for healthy development, like spending time with family and friends, playing outdoors and getting a good night’s sleep.

More than 400 students and teachers gathered at Yale Secondary for the 2026 BC Student Leadership Conference, welcoming participants from across British Columbia as well as Toronto, Saskatchewan, and Quebec.

Over several days, students connected with peers, heard from inspiring keynote speakers, participated in workshops and completed community service activities. The conference also gave students opportunities to exchange ideas they could bring back to strengthen their own schools and communities.

Halloween is here, and we hope our students and families enjoy a fun weekend of costumes, treats and time together. Festivities have already started today at all our schools across the District. 

This is a reminder for families with children this weekend: stay visible, travel together, use sidewalks and crosswalks, and watch carefully for vehicles when crossing streets.

Drivers please also slow down and stay alert, especially in residential neighbourhoods where more children may be out walking.
