Two long-serving members of the Abbotsford Board of Education were recognized with a special honour this week for their years of service and commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

Board Chair Stan Petersen, who has served as a trustee for 15 years, and Vice Chair Shirley Wilson, who has served for 21 years, were blanketed by members of the Abbotsford School District’s Indigenous Education Council (IEC).

Happy National Coaches Week!

Every season, coaches across the Abbotsford School District give their time, knowledge and encouragement to help students grow. Many volunteer their time before school, after school, on evenings and weekends.

For many families, the start of a new school year brings excitement, anticipation and the familiar feeling of a fresh start.

We are pleased to join The Patrika in celebrating the launch of its Abbotsford Community Newsletter, a new resource designed to share local stories, helpful information and community connections with Abbotsford residents. 

Elementary and middle school students marked the end of summer school with a Celebration of Learning. 

Students shared projects from across their courses, including literacy and social studies, demonstrating the skills and knowledge they developed throughout the summer program. 

Connections with organizations beyond the classroom create memorable learning experiences for students across the Abbotsford School District. 

Science World’s On the Road team brought its Science of Sport presentation to eight schools this year, including Sandy Hill Elementary. 

As part of the Abbotsford School District's commitment to meaningful storytelling, Leadership Team updates to the Board of Education throughout the 2025/26 school year included videos reflecting on the work accomplished during the 2024/25 school year. First presented at public Board meetings, these videos are now available for families, staff and community members to explore.
