Principal's Message for April

Spring is Finally Here!

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone had a chance over the break to spend some quality time together with their families, staying safe and enjoying local adventures. Term 2 report cards went home last month, and I was filled with pride when I read over them. Across all grade levels our students are showing steady progress in reading, writing and math. The gains our students have made from term one to term two are a direct result of our dedicated educational staff at school, and the close relationship we have with our parent community.

April brings a sense of hope with the province’s announcement that K-12 staff will be eligible for a covid vaccine this month. I am cautiously optimistic that all interested adults will receive a vaccine by the end of June. While the vaccine role-out moves forward, Health & Safety protocols at school continue to be a top priority. Parents can support our endeavours by remembering to complete the daily heath assessment each morning for their child(ren), not to gather in groups while on school property, physically distance from other adults while outside, and kindly wear a mask if you need to speak to a staff member. On March 29th, the province announced a new mask mandate at school for students in grades 4 & 5 as an additional layer of protection. Mask use for students in grades K-3 is encouraged but not mandatory. This new grade 4 & 5 mask rule takes effect Tuesday, April 6th.  Reusable and disposable student masks are available at school for students as needed.

With only three months of school left, I suspect these coming days are going to fly by.  I look forward to the learning and excitement ahead of us.
